Zellers Inc. is a Canadian chain of mass merchandise discount stores and a subsidiary of the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC). In 2011, Target Corporation acquired the leaseholds of the majority of Zellers stores as the chain prepared to expand into Canada in 2013 and 2014. HBC announced on July 26, 2012, that it will close most of the remaining stores not acquired by Target. After March 31, 2013, there will be three Zellers stores left in the country, which remain situated in Etobicoke, Montréal-Nord, and Surrey. Zellers will carry merchandise from The Bay and Home Outfitters “Zellers will redefine the store format to focus on fashion apparel and a refined home product offering with a shared merchandise mix with other HBC banners.” confirmed communications manager Tiffany Bourré.
